 My name is Maryssa Joseph, and I am 17 years old. I go to Fort Lauderdale High School. I am a Junior, and this year is really no joke. I used to work at Papa Johns for $10/hour, but I quit to help out my parents with my siblings. My schedule is not as hectic as it used to be. I still have the same schedule but for some reason it's much easier in semester 2. If you count band as a sport then yes, I play a sport. No, I don't play an instrument but I dance/flag. I am in Auxiliary which means I'm a dancer in the band. Next year I'm going to be captain is exciting but, I'm actually pretty sad because all my members beside the new girls are seniors this year. I won't have any of them with me next year backing me up. I am very grateful to have new girls that are trying and is planning on continuing next year with me. I hope I have an amazing and beautiful season with the old girls before they leave me. I also hope that I am able to have the same family vibes with my new girls just how I did with the veterans on the team.

Genre Research Blog: Thriller

 The second genre that my group will be researching is thriller. Some elements of a thriller are an action-packed opening, a likeable protagonist, unlikable antagonist, cliffhangers, character growth, a lesson, a ticking clock, which shows that the protagonist can be fighting with time, and an amazing, epic ending. Thrillers often have a race-against-time aspect to them something that adds to the suspense and fuels the reader's adrenaline rush. Whether it is a ticking time bomb or criminal who will be sentenced to death in 48 hours if not proven innocent, this really adds to the pace of the book. Lighting used in thrillers usually are low key lighting. The lighting is used to set mood of the scenes and match the setting as well. This is used the most for a big dramatic effect. Convention Research: The Last 3 Minutes

  This short film called, “The Last 3 Minutes” was about the last three minutes of a man’s life. It is a drama that features a series of cuts, natural lighting, and non-diegetic music almost throughout the entire thing. The beginning scene begins with low key lighting and a long shot to show the entire scene. That is common when a film starts just to show the audience what the scene looks like. Throughout the entire film, there is hardly any dialogue or spoken words at all.  Some angles used in the film are low angles, high angles, profiles, and even dutch angles which aren’t too common in dramas. For example, a low angle is used at the start when the man clutches his chest. This is showing that he is a victim of the circumstance he in.
